I
was very interested to read the
letter on the 06 January 2005 from
Mr Syed Faiyazuddin Ahmad, UK. who
is returning to Patna after 1954. I
would be most interested to read his
impression of Patna on his return.

I
am a regular visitor to your site as
it is is the only source of contact
I have with my state. I am presently
settled in UK. Visiting your site
gives me great pleasure as well as a
sense of despair about the
situations there. Probably we need
to struggle again for the liberation
of Bihar, the land of Mahavir,
Chanakya, Dr Rajendra Prasad..
endless great people.

Being
a Bihari I am a regular visitor of
sites such as yours. I always go
through these pages with very mixed
feeling of hope (of restoring the
Bihar's old glory) and despair (ever
rising criminals in the politics).
One thing that has moved me a lot is
seeing your page 'locate your long
lost friends here'.
It is
a great way to renew the links, not
sure whether it is an original idea
or imported. Doesn't matter though.
We don't need to re-invent wheel anyway. That is great!!
Praveen Mahto
PD Note: Thanks for your comments,
Mr. Mahto. We don't know if the idea
is original or not - one thing we
can say for sure that we did not
get the idea from other web sites.
Instead, it was a natural
progression as we were getting a lot
of requests from people asking us to
find their old friends in Patna and
other parts of the state. While we
did try in some cases, obviously
this (locating contacts) is not one
of our fortes nor do we have time to
pursue each and every request. As a
result, instead of sending such
letters into the never-never land of
the Recycle Bin, we decided to start
a section where readers could post
the names of their long-lost friends
in the hope their friends visit
PatnaDaily.Com and see someone is
missing them.
While we don't know how successful
this feature has been so far,
occasionally we do receive letters
from people who did actually find
their friend or friends due to this
column. That is very rewarding.
Unfortunately, some people think
this is an usual pen-pal column
where you can seek new friends,
which it is not. Worse yet, some
even send love messages to their
dear ones who they are afraid of
talking face to face. Naturally,
they never make it to the Web and
end up in that never-never land of
..... well, you get the idea! |

I
have just returned to London from
Patna after staying 4 weeks with
relatives. As I was born in Chapra
and lived my early years in Patna
before moving to London, I am very
sentimental about Patna (which I
feel is my hometown).
However, I note that you do not
provide Web camcorders on your
website so that visitors can see
"live pictures" of main areas, such
as Patna Lawn or Gandhi Maidan/Patna
Zoo/Patna Museum etc... In other
website of cities you can click on
to the Web camcorder and see real
time movies of favourite places. I
would love to see "real time
pictures" of my favourite home town.
I like
your website and frequently use it
and have told others about it.

I
am a Patna-wala and was born
there in 1933. I left Patna with my
parents in early 1947 and since then
have roamed about the world and now
settled in Britain. I have only once
visited my birth place in 1954.
The
Patna where I spent some 14 years of
my childhood and adolescence, I am
told has changed; I hope for the
better. As I plan to visit Patna
soon, and go down my memory lane,
meet all those of my school mates,
mohalla people who are still there
and enjoy the famous Lassi of Moti
and the Rassgulla of Pinto among
many other things.
So, my
dear Patna I am coming after half a
century, please do not disappoint
me!

Thank
You for having so much current
information about my husband's
home-town of Patna. I Love looking
at the images of Patna, because it
brings back memories of my trips
there. Keep up the great work.

Congratulations
for the great work! The Website is
indeed 'The Pride of Patna'.
The following suggestions may be
considered:
a) There are several mistakes in the
city map which need to be corrected.
The map also needs updating.
b) 'City Information' should also
include a brief history of Patna.
c) There are many organisations in
Patna which are actively
participating in the welfare of the
city. They should be encouraged to
use the Website to promote their
activities.
d) 'News' should include a sports
corner.

I
am staying at Bangalore and feel
quite cut-off from my state, but
from the day I have started visiting
this site I feel somewhat in touch
with my land.
I want
you to publish news of at least
major district of Bihar such as
Gaya, Muzaffarpur or Saran, so that
we can get some latest news of what
is happening at our own place.
