Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday shrugged off a question over the possible candidacy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the post of the Prime Minister saying it was an irrelevant question as it did not mean anything at this time of the Indian politics.

Reacting to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's endorsement of Nitish Kumar as the future Prime Minister of India, Paswan wondered what this 'PM Material' was that Yadav was talking about.

"It's a useless question and I don't intend to waste time on commenting on this 'PM Material'. Nitish Kumar was elected to make Bihar crime free. Instead of doing so, he has his eyes now set on Delhi while crime rate goes up in Bihar. People are being murdered every day and even police officers are now not safe from the criminals. This year alone, four policemen have been gunned down but the Chief Minister more concerned about his political future," the LJP President said.

The Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister assured the people of Bihar about keeping the price of pulses under check despite report to the contrary in the media.

"We have taken adequate steps to keep the prices under control. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has procured 50,000 tons of pulses from the farmers and has imported another 25,000 tons from other countries to meet the domestic demand. Furthermore, one lakh ton of pulse will be procured from the farmers to create a buffer stock in the event of an emergency," Paswan said.
