Patna: Bihar Minority Welfare Minister Abdul Ghafoor on Sunday inaugurated the All India Yunani Tibbi Conference at the Azmal Khan Tibbi College and Hospital in Kadam Kuan in Patna in the presence of dozens of Yunani doctors from across the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister stressed the need for popularizing Yunani medicines to treat most common ailments and diseases saying these treatments were safe and unlike modern medicines, had no side or ill-effects.

"Yunani treatment is an ancient but proven science. In the old days, 'hakims' played a very important role in the society. Unfortunately, they are not given the same respect that they once enjoyed. All efforts must be made to change this so they continue to provide the valuable service that they had provided to the society for thousands of years," Ghafoor said.

In view of the recent ban by the Nitish government on alcoholic drink in Bihar, Dr. Yassir Arafat described in length how Yunani medicine could help an alcoholic kick the habit once and for all with a holistic approach.

Among those participating in the conference included Dr. Mahzabeen Naaz, Dr. K.T. Azmal, Dr. Ishtiaque Alam, Prof. Tauhid Kibria, Dr. Khaza Bahauddin, Ayub Khan, Dr. Aisha Parveen, Dr. Rizwanullah, Dr, Shyam Sundar Singh, Dr. Muhammad Wasim Ahmed, Dr. M. Siddiqui, Dr. Tanvir Alam, Dr. Ahmed Hussain, and Dr. Kutbuddin.
