Patna: Having his photo taken with one of his admitted fans and alleged killer of Hindustan journalist Rajdev Ranjan in Siwan is turning out to be a real headache for Tej Pratap Yadav, Bihar Health Minister and the eldest son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, as the Supreme Court on Friday issued an order to the Bihar government to serve notice to the minister and former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin to establish their nexus with criminals.
"There is clearly an understanding between some politicians and criminals in the state and for that, both Yadav and Shahabuddin need to be brought up in court," the Supreme Court order said directing the state government to serve notice to both the Health Minister and the former RJD MP.
The court also asked the CBI to beef up security for the wife of the journalist who had expressed threat on her and her family members' lives following the release of Shahabuddin from prison where he spent his last 11 years in a number of murder and other criminal cases.
Not happy with the court order, Tej Pratap Yadav accused the opposition leaders for conspiring against him.
"BJP leaders like Sushil Kumar Modi, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Nand Kishore Yadav have been seen in public with criminals. I am going to follow the Supreme Court order because I am a law abiding citizen but what about the BJP leaders?" asked the Health Minister.
Yadav further said that he was not a friend or acquaintance of Mohammed Kaif, the alleged shooter of Rajdev Ranjan, and could not help if someone took his picture with him in a public function.
"A lot of people want to take their pictures with me. It's not written on their foreheads whether they are criminals or not," he said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
