Patna: With a string of burglaries in the state capital keeping the law enforcement officials on their toes, emboldened criminals in Patna on Thursday, in broad daylight, broke into two separate apartments in Rajiv Nagar making do with valuables and cash worth several lakh rupees.
Apparently having scouted the surrounding area prior to committing the crime, burglars broke into Apt. No. 401 of Brajesh Kumar, an employee of Allahabad Bank, in the Rajhans Apartments on Ambedkar Path and emptied it of its valuables.
With no one nearby to interrupt their activities, the thieves then targeted the apartment next door, Apt. 402, occupied by the parents of a senior official working in Pune. The couple was not present in the apartment as they had gone to their village in Madhubani allowing the criminals to take their own sweet time to get away with the valuables.
According to the police, the burglars first broke open the lock of the main gate of the building before breaking the locks of the two apartments. At both places, the thieves only concentrated on gold and silver jewelries and cash making their escape relatively easier before they could be caught.
A guard on the duty who was identified as 60-year old Siyaram Sharma was not present at the check post as he had gone to his flat to take a nap.
Rajiv Nagar police station in-charge Ramakant Tiwari said inside job could not be ruled as police investigate the two burglaries.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
