Patna: The Patna Film Festival being played out at the Regent Cinema and Rabindra Bhawan in the state capital came to an end on Friday with a wonderful dance by none other than Dr. Sonal Mansingh, the noted classical dancer and a Padma Vibhushan recipient.

With her flawless performance, Dr. Mansingh enthralled the filled to the capacity auditorium that, besides general public, also included several celebrities in the audience including well-known Bollywood star of the yesteryears Sarika, another critically-acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee, and former Bhojpuri mega star Kunal Singh, among others.

"What makes Patna Film Festival different from other such events in other cities is that in Patna, it always concludes with a classical and artistic presentation whereas in other places, they nearly always end in a Bollywood song and dance," the world-acclaimed danseuse said following the conclusion of her Odissi dance based on the mythology of Lord Krishna.

On the occasion, Bajpayee was honored with the Bihar Film Ratna Samman.

"This is a great honor for me as well as all the people of Bihar. Entertainment is not only about songs and dances, they also should have a captivating story and they should, in some way, contribute towards building a better society," Bajpayee said.

Sarika, the star of many super hit films in the '70s and '80s including 'Geet Gata Chal', 'Jani Dushman', and Kranti who started her career as a child artist in films like 'Manjhli Didi' and 'Humraaz', in her speech as one of the juries of the award panel, gave high marks to the Patna Film Festival saying she would love to come back to Bihar to promote local art, film, and culture.

While 'Le Lotta' of Manish Mitra won the best Director, best film and special jury awards; 'Day of Autumn' was chosen as the best short film and 'Sax in the City' the best documentary film.

Awards were also given to students for critiquing films shown in the festival.
