Patna: Janata Dal – U spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, at a press conference in Patna on Thursday, blamed the Center for the poor condition of farmers in India saying the entire agricultural sector was the victim of NDA government's poor policies.
"Every single policy of the Prime Minister, Agriculture Minister, and the Food and Public Distribution Minister is not only anti-farmers; they are also against the basic principles of farming," Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said.
The JD-U spokesperson further said that with the killing of six farmers in a police firing in Madhya Pradesh, a state under the rule of the BJP, it was evident that the farmers did not appear in the top agenda of the Central government.
Party MLC Upendra Prasad, speaking on the occasion, said that the Nitish government in Bihar was providing all help to the farmers because the Center had forgotten about them.
"Bihar government, under the Chief Minister Seed Program, is giving 50% subsidy to the farmers. Similarly, the state government is giving 90% subsidy in farming tools and equipment, and 50% in organic farming. Furthermore, the government is providing diesel to the farmers at the rate of Rs. 90 per liter. The Center owes it to the farmers of India to explain what has it done for them in the last three years," Prasad said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
