Patna: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Central Minority Welfare Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, speaking at the 'Parliament Concave' in Patna on Saturday, favored holding both Parliamentary elections and state elections at the same time in order to save enormous time and money spent on elections after four or five years.
"Our election system is in the need of a complete overhaul. One of the changes we can bring is to hold both national and state elections at the same time that would result in huge saving in time and money. It seems like every five to six months some state is going through an election process. This act as an impediment in the development process," the BJP leader said at the Gyan Bhawan in Patna.
Naqvi also favored imparting modern education in madarsas where, he said, only religious education was imparted.
"We must connect all madarsas with modern education for an overall growth in education in the minority community otherwise many Muslim students will be denied of education that they deserve," he said.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating and implementing Goods and Services Tax (GST), Naqvi said that under the leadership of Modi, many positive social, economic, administrative, and political improvements were being introduced in the system.
Party MP Varun Gandhi, Janata Dal – U MP K C Tyagi and many others also spoke on the occasion.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
