Patna: With the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ship showing signs in troubled water with the CBI closing in on the party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and a number of his family members, several of the minor cast of characters ditched RJD and joined the Janata Dal – U at a simple function in Patna on Monday.
Among those jumping the ship included former mayor of Munger Kumkum Devi and over half a dozen office bearers from various districts.
JD-U MP RCP Singh and state Education Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma welcomed the new members saying their presence will further strengthen the party in the post Grand Alliance political landscape in Bihar.
Legislator Sanjay Kumar Singh, Dr. Navin Kumar Arya, and Anil Kumar were also present at the occasion.
Slamming Sharad Yadav for engaging in anti-Nitish propaganda while hobnobbing with the RJD leaders, the MP said that the former party President should look around himself to see who he is standing with.
"He is standing with corrupt leaders who have been convicted in corrupt cases. Nearly the whole family is under CBI scrutiny so before talking about Nitish Kumar who has an unblemished record, Sharad Yadav should question his own record and integrity," Singh said.
Adding Yadav had zero base in Bihar, the MP said that the former President has a habit of latching on to a party in Bihar to further his political aspirations.
"Sometimes he comes to Bihar on the back of JD-U, the other time on the back of RJD. He has no identity of his own in Bihar where JD-U was practically carrying him around for years. I don't think he even understands what GST is. When he was asked to speak on GST in the Rajya Sabha, he had 18 minutes to talk but he finished his speech in less than two minutes," Singh said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
