Patna: The newly-appointed working President of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Kaukab Qadri on Wednesday assumed charge of the party amid warm welcome by state leaders who pledged to provide him full support in the coming days.
Speaking at Sadaqat Ashram, the party state headquarters in Patna, Qadri said that he was honored and humbled by his appointment in view of the fact that he was merely a party worker with no name recognition who was dedicated to strengthen Congress in Bihar.
"I will work tirelessly to strengthen the party in Bihar where it has been struggling to find ground in the last few years. This I will do by taking along everyone with me regardless of one's caste, class, community, or religion. Moreover, I will also lead by raising my voice against anti-people policies of the NDA government in Bihar and the Center as well," Qadri, who replaced Ashok Kumar Chowdhary, the party state President for the past four years, said.
Taking into account the brewing dissent within the party as his predecessor launched a no-holds barred assault on some of the senior party leaders sitting in Delhi, Qadri appealed to all party leaders to shed their personal differences and work to unite the members in an attempt to make the party stronger in the state.
Before arriving at the Sadaqat Ashram, Qadri paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi at their statues across the state capital.
Interestingly, out of the 27 Congress MLAs and six MLCs in Bihar, only one legislator, Sidharth Kumar Singh, was present on the occasion.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
