Patna: Former Governor of Bihar and now the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday appointed Satyapal Malik as the new Governor of Bihar releasing West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi who was entrusted with additional charge of Bihar on June 22 Mr. after Kovind was nominated for the highest post in the nation.
Besides appointing the new Governor of Bihar, the President also appointed new Governors for Tamil Nadu, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh and the Lieutenant Governor for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Welcoming the President's choice, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar welcomed Satyapal Malik, a former MP and ex-national Vice President of the BJP, as the new governor of Bihar.
In a statement, Malik said that he understood the responsibility given to him and he intended to fulfill his duties 'whole-heartedly'.
A former Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism Department in the early '90s, Mr. Malik was born on July 24, 1946 and was nominated to the Rajya Sabha twice during his long political career and was also elected to the Lok Sabha once.
Holding a bachelor's degree in Science and also earning his LLB degree from Meerut University, Malik is also an experienced agriculturist.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
