Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Monday, will cut the ribbon at the brand-new 'Bapu Hall' located within the shiny Ashoka Convention Center near Gandhi Maidan along with declaring the new Bihar Museum open on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg off Bailey Road.

The Bapu Meeting Hall is touted as the largest in the state with a sitting capacity of 5000 people. Fully air-conditioned, the facility can be rented by companies or private parties for a daily rate of Rs. 2 lakh.

The building itself is largely constructed with steel using frame technology with minimal use of conventional bricks and is said to be completely earthquake-proof.

The new museum to be known as Bihar Museum, as opposed to the existing Patna Museum located on Buddha Marg, will also be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on Monday.

Built at the cost of Rs. 517 crore and spread in an area of 14 acres, the new museum contains eight different galleries showcasing over 3000 ancient artifacts including the famous statue of the 'Yakshini' dating back to 3rd Century BCE found in Deedarganj in Patna in 1917.

Bihar Museum curator JPN Singh said the museum will officially open for public from Tuesday. Visitation hours are between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm. Ticket prices have been fixed at Rs. 50 for adults and Rs. 25 for students and children.
