Patna: Still hoping to checkmate their once leader of the century Nitish Kumar was earlier billed by them as the next Prime Minister of India, the anti-Nitish camp within the Janata Dal – U on Wednesday said that the Sharad Yadav camp within the party would once again stake the claim over the party leadership by removing Kumar from the post of party's presidency.
Speaking at a press conference at Hotel Rajasthan in Patna, former JD-U National General Secretary Arun Kumar Srivastava said that the Sharad camp will stake the claim on the party on October 10 in Delhi following a meeting of the party's national council on October 8.
"We will meet with the Election Commission again to declare the Sharad group as the real Janata Dal – U. We have called a meeting of the party's national council on October 8 in Delhi in which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is also invited. On this occasion, Kumar will be officially removed from his party President's post since the post is currently being occupied by Gujarat JD-U legislator Chhotu Bhai Basawa. The party will then hold election for office bearers for which Subhash Chandra Srivastava has been made the election officer," he said.
Srivastava also denied the Election Commission had earlier rejected their appeal as reported in the media saying the Commission simply had not issued its ruling on the subject yet.
"I have just returned from touring Gujarat, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and West Bengal and we are confident we have the required number to take over the party and take appropriate actions against Nitish Kumar for hijacking the JD-U," Srivastava said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
