Chandigarh: 22-year old professional golfer from Patna Aman Raj, playing in the prestigious TAKE Open Golf Championship at the Chandigarh Golf Club, settled for the second place at the end of the final round played on Sunday - two strokes behind the champion and home town favorite Shubankar Sharma.
Aman, the overnight leader by one stroke, shot a one-under-par 71 in the fourth and final round for a final score of -10, to grab the second place all by himself, two strokes behind the champion.
Going into the final round on Sunday, Aman continued to lead the field through the front-nine carding two birdies and a bogey. He, however, gave up the lead with two missed putts on 11th and 12th holes for bogeys.
He made a dramatic comeback in the last six holes but it was not enough to catch up with Shubankar Sharma who went on to win the tourney by two strokes.
This was Aman's second second-place finish this season elevating his position in the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) of Merit from 15th place to 7th position.
Talking to reporters, Aman blamed his first place loss on his putts saying when he really needed to sink the ball, he failed to convert them.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
