Patna: Keeping up with the tradition, Patna'ites on Tuesday made a beeline to their favorite jewelry, utensils, and electronic shops just as others paid a visit to auto and motorbike dealers in the state capital to do their shopping for Dhanteras.

According to one report, consumers in Patna alone purchased over 800 brand new cars and well over 2000 used cars to the tune of several crore rupees.

Shoppers across the city were raking in money on gold, silver, bronze, and stainless-steel items and household gadgets like laptops, refrigerators, washers and dryers, microwaves, and flat-screen television sets.

Electronic shops on Dak Bungalow Road, Frazer Road, Exhibition Road, Boring Road, and Boring Canal Road witnessed huge rush of consumers with deep pockets willing to fulfill the desire of their spouses and children who came with their wish list to upgrade their lifestyle.

Even the street-side vendors were having a field day selling clay lamps, mini idols of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi, and other items connected with Dhanteras and Diwali that falls on Thursday.

Markets in Kadam Kuan, Sabzi Bagh, Ashok Rajpath, Kankarbagh, Station Road, Karbigahia, and Boring Road saw unprecedented crowd as people from all sections of the society filled the shops indicating things were not as bad as some people had been trying to make the economy look like.
