Edison, NJ, USA: Bihar and Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) community based in Edison, New Jersey in the USA celebrated Diwali at the Royal Albert Palace in the presence of over 350 people from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware and Virginia states.
Consul General of India in New York Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty was the chief guest on the occasion.
Mr. Chakravorty, in his speech, praised the efforts of the BJANA team and the work it does for the Indian community. He also offered help to the group in many of its activities.
On the occasion, the BJANA committee honored woman achievers from the community Dr. Geeta Gupta, Internist, and Mrs. Sarla Singh, Chartered Accountant, for their achievements and contribution to the community.
The Consul General also handed out awards to Mr. Amit Choudhary, Chief Financial Officer of Capgemini, and Mr. Girish Varma President - Global IT services & Solutions, CenturyLink for their contributions to the society.
In her speech as the president of BJANA, a 42-year old not-for-profit organization, Anjali Prasad talked about the achievements of the outfit and charity works done by it for the victims of flood in Bihar and its involvement in the Community Food Bank in New Jersey.
To its credit, BJANA has also partnered with SmileTrain for the last three years to sponsor free cleft lip surgeries for poor in Bihar and Jharkhand.
