Patna: Taking a shot at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, after his weekly 'Lok Samvad' program on Monday, said that the top position in the Congress Party was reserved for the members of only one family while others jostled for other posts.
"There is one post in the party that can only be occupied by the members of the family of only one party. Others can apply for other posts but they will never get the top post," Kumar said adding this was Congress Party's tradition since the party came into existence.
As recalled, Rahul Gandhi is all set to take over the party's leadership from his mother Sonia Gandhi in a few days. Though there is a process Rahul Gandhi has to go through to confirm his election to the party's President post, it is considered a mere formality as Gandhi is running unopposed with full consent of other party leaders.
Kumar avoided talking about Sharad Yadav, a former colleague and Janata Dal – U President, who was disqualified from the Rajya Sabha on Monday due to his anti-party activities.
He, however, weighed in on the ongoing controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic film 'Padmavati' that was earlier, under mounting pressure by the rightwing outfits, banned by his government in Bihar.
"The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) should clarify whether a historical figure was shown in poor light thus hurting the sentiments of millions of people. Until a reasonable clarification is issued, the film will not be shown in Bihar," Kumar said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
