Patna: Members of the Indian Armed Forces on Friday participated in a full dress-rehearsal at Patna's Gandhi Maidan to prepare for the Republic Day celebration where Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik is scheduled to deliver his first January 26 address to the people of Bihar.
Talking to the reporters, District Magistrate Kumar Ravi said that work was going full steam at Gandhi Maidan to get it ready for the big event. He also briefly talked about the security arrangement for the function saying the entire program would be monitored by dozens of closed-circuit cameras and to add another layer of security, armed security jawans will be posted at all tall buildings around the historical field.
Security would also be beefed up at Patna Junction, Patna Airport, and bus stations to avoid the repetition of the bomb blasts during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Hunkar Rally in 2013.
The DM ordered the officials to finish preparation by no later than January 20 by setting up barricades and replacing broken gates with new ones.
A full dress-rehearsal of the various branches of the armed force is scheduled for January 24, a senior police official said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
