Patna: Devotees in Patna throughout the state capital on Monday celebrated Janmashtami, or the birth of Lord Krishna, with prayers, devotional songs, and recitation of the Bhagwad Gita at various temples and other places of congregation.
Janmashtami was also celebrated at the Dadijee Shaktidham Temple where children dressed as younger Krishna re-enacted the early life of the Lord depicting him stealing milk and butter.
At Maharana Pratap Bhawan, devotees participated in a Radha-Krishna dance while children, dressed as baby Krishna took part in the 'makhan chor' re-enactment.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sent his wishes to all the devotees and urged them to celebrate diversity and universality of the festival.
