Patna: Navin Kumar, the 1975 batch IAS officer, at a simple function on Friday, took over charge as Bihar's new Chief Secretary in the presence of his predecessor and outgoing IAS officer Anup Mukherjee.
With a very strong resume under his belt, Kumar has worked under many governments and ministries while holding coveted positions in departments ranging from education and youth affairs to finance and urban development. He has also worked as a technical advisor to the Sierra Leone government and the Director General of the Doordarshan.
Kumar, who is the 39th Chief Secretary of Bihar, was born in 1952. When not wearing the cap of a senior bureaucrat, he is also said to be a computer programmer and a decent artist earning the respect of his peers and friends.
"As a Chief Secretary, I don't have any personal agenda. My job is to ensure the goals and deadlines set by the government are met and plans are carried out as outlined by the administration. Currently the government is focused on brining investment and improve infrastructure in the state and I have to make sure these goals are met in a timely and transparent fashion," Kumar said.
Outgoing Chief Secretary Anup Mukherjee, meanwhile, said that he was looking forward to his new, retired life with his family and loved ones.
