Patna: Armed criminals in Patna in Kautilya Nagar under Airport police station on late Saturday night broke into the flat of former state Minister Brij Kishore Singh and escaped with thousands of rupees in cash and valuables.
As reported, about 10 criminals, after yanking out the iron grill of a window, gained entry into the home of Singh. At gun point, the criminals took Pankaj Srivastava, a student and caretaker of the flat, hostage by blindfolding him and tying his hands and feet with a rope.
The criminals then went on to turn the flat upside down in search of any cash or valuable. They managed to get away with a television set, a mobile phone, a clothing iron, and about Rs. 500 in cash.
However, why the thieves did not take away the computer in the room remains a mystery.
Singh whose family lives in Motihari was not at home when the crime was committed.
Pankaj, on Sunday morning, managed to raise an alarm after which the neighbors rushed into the flat and freed him from his bondage.
Patna Airport police station in-charge Vijendra Kumar Shahi said patrolling in the area is being intensified following complaints of a rise in burglary cases in Kautilya Nagar.
