Patna: Urban Development Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, at a press conference in Patna on Friday, said that the state was in the process of issuing a tender for a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed metro rail system in the state capital.
The plan, when ready to be implemented, would be completed in two separate phases. While the first phase would entail building the track between Danapur and Patna City, in the second phase it would connect Digha to Patna Junction to provide an effective alternative to the existing, though chaotic, commute system, Kumar said.
Both routes would be 20 kilometers long and would ease the eternal traffic jams that plague the city even on rare days when no political rallies are scheduled.
Earlier, the minister also held talks with the secretary of the of Urban Development department Secretary Dr. Sudhir Krishna and other top officials to work out details about the public tender.
