Patna: Bihar Governor Debananda Konwar in Patna on Thursday welcomed the members of the National Cadet Corp (NCC), Bihar and Jharkhand units, at the Raj Bhawan for their excellent performance at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.
"NCC cadets of both Bihar and Jharkhand have a long history of excellence and this year was no different. It is heartening to see their performance winning so many hearts and it is my pleasure to welcome them at the Raj Bhawan," the Governor said.
At the event dubbed as 'At Home', the cadets put up a spectacular show of their talents that recently won several awards at the national competition held by the NCC Directorate in New Delhi.
Those who brought laurels to the state in the national contest included Cadet Anup Kumar, Cadet Montun, Cadet Riti Kashyap, Cadet Raman Kanth, and Cadet Prabhat Shankar in various categories. The Bihar-Jharkhand unit also bagged the second place in the entire nation in the ballet dance category.
The governor gave away individual prizes to the winners besides handing over the winning banner to the Bihar-Jharkhand unit.
Brigadier K. P. Chand, speaking on the occasion, said that initially the Bihar-Jharkhand unit had only 1500 members but now that number has swollen to more than 80,000 cadets.
Patna University Vice Chancellor Dr. Shambhu Nath Singh was also present on the occasion.
