sahajanandsahajanandPatna: Politicians of all colors in Patna on Friday observed the 121st birth anniversary of Swami Sahajanand Saraswati at a number of functions organized in the state capital.

Former film star and MP from Patna Saheb Shatrughan Sinha, at a function held at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, said that without the empowerment of the farmers, the country could not expect to develop in the 21st century.

"By ignoring the ideals of Swami Sahajanand, India cannot expect to bring equality among all, Sinha said.

Other leaders including Bihar Emergency Management Minister Devesh Chandra Thakur, Swami Sahajanand Kisan Manch Chairperson Ravindra Ranjan, legislators Vinod Yadav and Prem Ranjan Patel were among many who spoke about the life and teachings of Sahajanand that put emphasis on the welfare of farmers.

Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a life-size statue of Swami Sahajanand at Krishna Nagar Park.

"We have put a number of measures in place to improve the condition of Bihar farmers. Swami Sahajanand's dreams could come true only when we give the right due to our farmers," Kumar said.

Similar functions were also organized by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Janata Dal (U), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Also, a seminar on the role of farmers in the current global environment was held at the Vidyapati Bhawan that was attended by former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, former Central Ministers Laliteshwar Prasad Shahi and Baleshwar Ram, legislator Bheem Singh, Dr. Mahachandra, and many others.
