Using the alleged scam involving Rs. 11,412 crore as a wedge to prop up leftist credentials, Bhattacharya said that the people of Bihar had been duped for decades by a number of parties and it was time the Left parties were given a chance at governing the state.

Bhattacharya, who has been trying very hard for years to gain a foothold in Bihar despite being rejected by the voters one election cycle after another, called for a massive uprising against the 'corrupt' Nitish government to 'restore democracy and corruption' in the state.

Giving a new spin on the decline in kidnapping cases under the NDA government in Bihar, Bhattacharya said that the reason the number of kidnappings had gone down in the state was because most kidnappers had become contractors under the Nitish administration.

"Crime against women and dalits, however, has gone considerably higher under the current administration," said Bhattacharya who also participated in a street rally later in the day.
