Students' protest continues in Patna.Students' protest continues in Patna.Patna: Activists belonging to All India Students Association (AISA), Students' Federation of India (SFI), All India Students' Federation (AISF), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), on Thursday, burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the aftermath of the arrests of five students on charges of inciting and resorting to violence and going on a rampage during a protest rally in Patna last week.

Accusing the Chief Minister of acting as an autocrat who 'was determined to destroy the voice of the student community' to crush any kind of dissident, the student leaders burnt the effigy of the CM outside Patna University office.

"The Nitish administration is trying to muzzle our voice by arresting student leaders on flimsy grounds. He is also against holding student union elections in Bihar universities. Situation in colleges are also in complete disarray as the employees remain on strike affecting the functioning of the colleges," said Dhirendra Paswan of All India Students' Federation (AISF)

"If our demands are not met immediately, the entire student community would be forced to launch a statewide stir that would even dwarf the students' agitation of the '70s," he said.
