Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at a function in Patna on Saturday presented the 7th annual report card of the NDA government detailing the accomplishments as well as future plans for the development of the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said that in the next coming years, villages with population over 250 would be connected with larger towns by concrete roads at the cost of nearly Rs. 23,000 crore.

"There are over 1.4 lakh such hamlets in Bihar that would be connected with nearly 34,000 kilometers of road. The construction, to start as early as this year, would be completed by 2017," he said.

Highlighting progress made in the field of agriculture, education, health, and energy, Kumar said all these things required massive amount of money but in the lack of special status for Bihar, the state government was doing the best it can.

"While the world is now hearing the news of development in Bihar, it would still take at least 25 years to bring the state at par with other developed states," the Chief Minister said.

Lauding the improvement in law and order in Bihar, Kumar said that the state police was very active and was catching criminals and putting them on trial faster than ever before but some people, who could not stand the progress being made in Bihar, were too busy spreading false information to damage the government.

The Chief Minister also touched on topics like Right to Service, mid-day meal scheme in schools, seizing of properties of corrupt officials and turning their houses into schools for poor and impoverished children; decline in infant mortality rate, and the agricultural road map that promises to usher second green revolution in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and other members of the Cabinet were also present on the occasion.
