Railway Police in Bettiah Busts Human Trafficking

With the rescue of five Nepalese girls and the arrest of a man escorting the girls from the Raxaul-Delhi Satyagraha Express at Narkatiaganj railway station on Thursday, the railway police is claiming to have busted an international gang of girl traffickers with the intention to sell them in the prostitution market, officials in West Champaran district said.
Railway Protection Force inspector Amit Gunjan, while talking to reporters, said that the man arrested was identified as Twango Tamang, a Nepalese citizen. Under intense police grilling, Tamang confessed of his role in transporting young girls from Bihar and Nepal to Middle-Eastern countries to work at sex establishments but said he was only a 'courier' and was working for some other people based in both Delhi and Kuwait.
The rescued girls said that they were promised lucrative jobs in Kuwait where they had the potential of making as much as Rs. 10,000 per month.
The five girls were 'bought' at a total price of Rs. 30,000 where his commission was Rs. 2,000, the arrested pimp said.
The police is investigating the case and is planning raids in Delhi based on the information provided by Tamang.
