SORRY!

Patna: August 1, 2005

We regret to announce that PatnaDaily.Com is discontinuing two of its most popular features, 'Matrimonial' and 'Looking For...', effective immediately. The idea was good, the intentions were honest but unfortunately, the Internet scumbags are out to destroy that for everyone else. Unscrupulous marketers, sexual predators constantly scan the Internet to 'mine' email addresses using sophisticated computer programs to send junk mails, sexually explicit mails to their targets. Apparently, they hit a goldmine when they found the 'Matrimonial' and 'Looking For' sections in PatnaDaily.Com that lists guests email addresses.

While we have not received any complaints from anyone, a few of you have asked to take off your listing from either the Matrimonial or Looking For sections. At PatnaDaily.Com, we respect your privacy and can assure you we never, and I repeat, never, send out unsolicited emails to our readers. Period!

In the interest of protecting the privacy of our visitors, we will no longer have any feature, including Matrimonial and Looking For sections, that may require publishing of readers' email addresses.

We are sorry it came to this but we are as much sick of spams, junk mails, and sexual solicitation as much as you are.

We will try to revive them in future if time and money permits us to do so without having to worry about spammers invading our visitors' in-box.

As for our Readers' Write section, nothing is going to change as we do not publish your email addresses anyway. If you would, however, prefer to see your email address published along with your article, please realize the danger of it, and express your wish to do so in your message. By default, we will not include your address in the Readers Write section.
