Shahabuddin Arrives in Patna; to be Taken to Siwan Tomorrow
Patna: November 7, 2005
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin was brought to Patna on Sunday night by a service flight after his bail petition was rejected by a Metropolitan court judge in New Delhi.
As suspected by the NDA leaders, hundreds of the Siwan MP's supporters gathered outside the airport chanting anti-Election Commission (EC) special advisor K. J. Rao slogans while demanding his release despite dozens of criminal cases pending against their leader.
Shahabuddin, instead of being taken to a government guest-house where he was expected to spend his night amidst heavy police security was instead taken to the Kotwali police station, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashish Ranjan Sinha said.
He will be taken to Siwan by road on Monday morning to be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, DIG (Administration) S. K. Singhal said. After that he would be lodged at the Central jail in Bhagalpur, he said.
