Bangladesh Author Draws Huge Crowd at Book Fair

Bangladesh author Taslima NasrinThe visitors of Patna Book Fair at Gandhi Maidan on Sunday had the rare opportunity to get a glimpse of the noted Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasrin who graced the occasion for nearly an hour at the Rabindra Nath Tagore stage showering heaps of praise on the people of Bihar for being such a gracious host.

"I was very apprehensive of my trip to Patna because of so many negative news coming out of Bihar. But once I arrived here, the people of Bihar, with their warmth and love, made be forget about everything", the 2004 winner of the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize said.

The author, after signing a number of autographs, released her book, 'Chhote Chhote Dukh', written by her and translated into Hindi by Sushil Gupta.

Before arriving at Gandhi Maidan, the author paid a visit to the Patna's Botanical and Zoological garden where she spent nearly two and a half hours. She was welcomed by the Zoo director Ranvir Singh and other state officials.

Besides feeding the animals , Taslima also rode the new children's train much to the joy of a number of children who were obviously impressed by the presence of the celebrity.
