Kidnappers in Bihar struck again on Thursday as they abducted the president of an Uttar Pradesh sugar mill and two other persons accompanying him on Wednesday night in East Champaran district while on their way to Motihari from Bettiah, the police said.
Prabhat Kumar Lohia, the president of the sugar mill, and two others were on their way to Motihari in a Bolero Jeep to attend the funeral of Lohia's sister who died five days ago when the three vanished, DIG Champaran, S. K. Bhardwaj said.
When the family members failed to trace him in the night, they filed a case of kidnapping with the Motihari police on Thursday morning.
The police was combing the area in search of the missing persons. Some eyewitnesses who had claimed to have seen a jeep that was closely followed by a white car, possibly a Scorpio, are being questioned by the police in the hope of getting some clue in the case. The police in Bettiah, Motihari, Bagaha, Gopalganj and UP have been alerted of the possible abductions, Bhardwaj said.
The other two missing persons were identified as the car driver Srikant Yadav and Vishwambhar Tiwari (age 85), the owner of an electrical shop in Motihari.
