CM Honors Bihar Law Enforcement Officials

Patna: December 3, 2006

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at a function organized to honor brave cops in Bihar on Sunday, said his government was determined to re-establish the rule of law in the state without which it could not make any substantial headway in other areas.

"In one year alone, more than 5,000 criminals have been captured and convicted in the state. Nearly 1,000 hardened criminals have been awarded life imprisonment and several have been given death penalty. We are resolute in our determination to bring back a sense of law and order in the state and send a strong message to the criminals that Bihar is no more a safe haven for them," Kumar said.

He also urged the policemen to be more alert and perform their duties with diligence and without influence from local politicians.

At the function, the Chief Minister gave away awards to 8 Superintendents of Police (SP) including Amit Kumar, the Nalanda SP and Amit Kumar Jain, the Gaya SP; 30 DSPs, 130 inspectors and 61 civilians for their bravery and efficiency in performing their duties.
