History Professor, Servant Found Stabbed to Death

Patna: December 3, 2006

Dr. Papiya Ghosh, associated with the history department of Patna University, was found stabbed to death at her house in Pataliputra Colony. A servant who lived with her was also found dead with multiple stab wounds, the police in Patna said.

Ghosh, a Patna University graduate who was well liked by her peers and students, was found lying in her own pool of blood by her maid who also discovered the body of the servant on Sunday morning.

The maid arrived at Ghosh' house at around 7:30 on Sunday morning when she found the victims lying on the ground. She then informed the neighbors who, in turn, called the police.

While robbery appeared to be the motive behind the two murders, the police is looking at the case from various angles, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kundan Krishnan said.

Errata: Dr. Ghosh was inadvertently identified by PatnaDaily.Com as the history professor at Patna Women's College. Thanks to Prof. Dolly Sinha for the correction.
