BIT Mesra (Bihar) to Become Functional from September

Patna: June 17, 2006

Science and Technology Minister Dr. Anil Kumar, while visiting the construction site of the future Bihar Institute of Technology (Mesra) campus in Patna on Friday, said the building was expected to be completed by the end of August and the institute would start functioning from September of this year.

Expressing his satisfaction at the rate of progress, Kumar said that work on classrooms and dormitories were going on in a speedy manner and in next two months enrollment process would begin although the entire building will not be completed before next fall.

Being built at the cost of Rs. 40 crore, the BIT Mesra Bihar branch will accommodate 120 students and will boast of advanced educational facilities including separate dorms for boys and girls with 25 rooms each.

"Once completed, this institute would be in the same league as other premier technical institutes of the nation. This will also prevent the flight of many students to other states," the minister said.
