BJP Workers Committee Meet Conclude

Patna: April 3, 2007

BJP Working Committee Meet Ends. Photo by Shashi UttamOn the second and final day of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) workers committee meet in Patna on Tuesday, senior party leader Kailashpati Mishra appealed to all party members to denounce hunger for power and dedicate their services for strengthening the nation and the party.

"We need leaders who can make personal sacrifices and don't particularly run after some post or ministry. Only true dedication and love for the nation can make the party stronger," the party patriarch said.

Other party leaders, however, were not so idealistic.

State BJP president Radhamohan Singh said the party would stage a demonstration against the UPA government at all district headquarters on April 9 for failing to check rising prices of essential commodities and being soft on terrorists.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, while praising the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for doing a wonderful work in the state, asked the party activists to help rectify the Below Povert Level (BPL) list that continues to create controversies despite the fact that the list was prepared during the Lalu-Rabri reign.

Former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain appealed to the party members to bring prominent Muslim leaders within the party fold to further strengthen the party.

Several Bihar ministers including the Health Minister Chandramohan Rai, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, Sports and Art Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, and PHED minister Prem Kumar gave accounts of their respective ministries while showering Nitish Kumar with praise for forging a cabinet that was well aware of its roles, responsibilities, and duties.

Prominent leaders who were conspicuous by their absence included former Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Shatrughan Sinha, and Rajiv Pratap Rudy who were said to be campaigning for the party candidates in other states.
