Criminals at PC Colony in Kankarbagh in Patna on Tuesday ambushed Anil Kumar, a known thug facing murder charges, and pumped six bullets in his head killing him on the spot, the police said.

Anil Kumar, a native of Jaganpura, was passing through PC Colony on his motorcycle when he was stopped by nearly half a dozen criminals in front of Flat 41. After a brief altercation, one man stuck a gun to the back of Anil's head and emptied the chamber on him.

Before a crowd could gather, the criminals escaped on their motorcycles.

Kankarbagh police station inspector Ramakant Prasad soon arrived at the crime scene and recognized the dead criminal as Anil Kumar who had been wanted by the police in connection with the murder of one Uday Pahalwan.

Unconfirmed reports, however, said the victim was in fact a police informant who finally ran out of luck and was eliminated by those who he had help them get arrested.
