LJP Dharna over Supreme Court's Stay on Reservation
Patna: April 5, 2007
Leaders of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in Patna on Thursday staged a sit-in at the Kargil Chowk to protest against the Supreme Court's recent stay on reservation in educational institutions for other backward castes (OBC).
Demanding immediate reversal of the stay, party activist Lalan Kumar said if the Supreme Court failed to do so, the party would be forced to launch a statewide agitation that could cripple the entire functioning of the state.
The party also performed a 'hawan' at Kargil Chowk to symbolize disdain for the Supreme Court's decision.
"This is a blatant attack on the Indian Constitution and the Supreme Court must be stopped before it goes too far in its attempt to crush the dreams of millions of people in the country," said the organizer Jeevan Kumar Singh.
