Human Rights Commission to Hold Court in Patna

Patna: April 5, 2007

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will hold a three-day special court in Patna starting April 19 to wrap up several human rights-related cases in the state, officials in Patna said on Thursday.

The special court will be set up in the conference room of the Bihar Industries Association building, they said.

This is the first time the Commission headed by its chairperson B. Rajendrababu will be setting up such court in Bihar. Four other members of the Commission will form the NHRC team who will also meet with senior state police officials at the Patna Secretariat conference room, it was learnt.

The Commission has selected a handful of cases in Bihar that involves violation of the Human Rights and parties involved in the cases are being informed to appear before the court.
