Upendra Kushwaha on Shaky Ground with JD-U
Patna: April 9, 2007
At a party meeting of the Janata Dal (U) in Patna on Monday, leaders expressed their dissatisfaction and anger with party general secretary Upendra Kushwaha saying he was damaging the image of the party by making anti-party statements including targeting the Chief Minister who was dedicated to bringing economic prosperity in the state.
"We had hoped that this day would never come but now the matter has gone too far. Kushwaha is making all sorts of anti-Nitish government statement and if he is not willing to resign voluntarily, maybe it is time to oust him from the party," party state president Rajiv Ranjan Singh, a.k.a. Lallan Singh said.
Kushwaha, last Sunday, had made some very disparaging remarks about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Lallan Singh, and other party activists inviting the wrath of other party members who on Monday, almost in unison, recommended the expulsion of the rebel leader.
The party leaders will once again meet on Tuesday to decide on the fate of Kushwaha.
