Naxalites Try to Blow up School Buildings in Munger

Patna: April 10, 2007

Maoist-sponsored terrorism continues in Bihar as Naxalites on Tuesday, tried to blow up two school buildings in Munger after hot-wiring both premises with several explosives causing extensive damages to the schools, the police in Munger said.

The school buildings were being used as temporary barracks for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans awaiting their deployment in Uttar Pradesh where state elections are being held.

As reported, over fifty Maoist guerillas enveloped the two schools, wired them with high-powered explosives, and detonated them with remote control devices.

Though no one was said to be hurt in the twin explosions, raids are being conducted in the area to apprehend extremists, the police said.
