RJD Meet to Strategize on Ambushing Nitish Government

Patna: April 10, 2007

Starting on April 24, the RJD will stage demonstrations at the block level to protest against irregularities in the Below Poverty List (BPL) that some claim was the doing of the Lalu-Rabri regime, Nitish Kumar's stand on reservation issues, introduction of the new Police Act, and other issues that are not going the RJD way.

Presiding over the meeting, former Chief Minister, and the leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Rabri Devi said that Nitish Kumar was promising to get 1 crore people of Bihar enlisted in the BPL list so all of his henchmen and supporters could also reap benefit from it.

There will be a repeat of April 24 on June 5 when protests will be held at all district headquarters, the leaders decided.

"The Chief Minister does not want the backward class people to get reservation in higher institutions of learning. In fact, he is the agent of those who are opposed to reservation," Rabri Devi said.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Shyam Rajak, Nihora Prasad Yadav, Sadhu Yadav, Ghulam Gaus, Ram Kripal Yadav, Ramchandra Purbe, Shyam Sundar Singh Dheeraj, Ram Bachan Rai, and other RJD leaders.
