Hundreds of Patna University students belonging to various left organizations, on Tuesday, staged a protest against the university officials and blocked the roads leading to the university office for several hours causing major road jam in the area.

Demanding to hold students' union election without further delay, removal of teachers appointed on contractual basis, and job guarantee after graduation, the agitators blocked Ashok Rajpath for more than two hours making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

The protestors also demanded sacking of university proctor Kriteshwar Prasad for pulling a gun on agitators at Patna University office a few months ago.

The rally was sponsored by All India Students' Federation (AISF), All India Youth Federation (AIYF), and Students' Federation of India (SFI) – all associated with left parties in the state.
