Nalanda Dairy Farmers Get Training at NDRI

A group of thirty dairy farmers from various dairy cooperative societies from Nalanda district were imparted five days of training on scientific dairy farming methodology that concluded here today at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Dairy Training Center (DTC) of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI).
Dr. Dalip K. Gosain, senior scientist and the chief of the KVK and DTC, NDRI, at the concluding function of the training program that was sponsored by Gavya Vikas Nideshalaya, Patna, advised the trainees to share their knowledge with their fellow dairy farmers upon return to their states.
Dr. Gosain said he found the trainees who were shown the elite herd of cross-bred cattle and 'murrah' buffaloes were keen to have such animals in their own farms. "These animals can be produced through artificial insemination," he said.
Scientists and specialists of the NDRI explained the significance of scientific feeding with direct bearing on the production and reproduction of dairy animals. They also provided the required information to the trainees on feeding different rations based on the milk production and age of the dairy animals.
Dr. Satya Pal, senior technical officer of the DTC and coordinator of this training program, said the trainees were also explained the importance of making and feeding mineral mixture to dairy animals and introduced to various aspects of breeding, feeding, health care and management that could improve dairy scenario in the Nalanda district.
During the training, the attendees also visited various farms in Haryana district and interacted with local dairy farmers so as to gain insight from their experiences, Dr. Paul said.
