Shariat Wants Full Investigation into Purported Osama CD
Patna: April 14, 2007
The religious leader of the Phulwarisharif-based Imarat-e-Shariat A. R. Qasmi, in the aftermath of the surfacing of the alleged Osama bin Laden CD exhorting young Muslims to join the Al Qaeda-sponsored terrorist camps, issued a statement saying a thorough probe should be conducted to verify the authenticity of the CDs before jumping to any conclusion.
"I have seen the reports in the media but neither I nor anyone I know has actually seen any such CD," said Qasmi on Saturday.
The Muslim religious leader asked the authorities to launch a full-fledged impartial investigation to get to the bottom of the story.
"This could be an attempt to wedge divide between Hindus and Muslims by certain political parties in Bihar. There is no such CD and it is a blatant, well-hatched conspiracy to spread fear among a certain community," Qasmi declared.
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) activists in Kadam Kuan in Patna burnt the effigies of bin Laden accusing it to trying to incite communal sir in the nation.
