Notorious Criminal Gunned Down in War of Attrition

In an ongoing war of supremacy, criminals under Kankarbagh police station in Patna on Monday gunned down notorious criminal Nawab Mian who had been wanted by the district police in dozens of cases of murders and abduction, the Kankarbagh police said.

Kankarbagh police inspector Ramakant Prasad, while talking to reporters on Monday, said Nawab Mian arrived near the Central School with two of his own gang members at around 11:30 am.

After a brief altercation, one of his associates pulled out a 9 mm pistol and fired at Nawab Mian from a very close range.

Five bullets hit Mian who died on the spot. The two criminals then escaped on a motorcycle, the report said.

The police sent Mian's body to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for an autopsy.

Nawab Mian had been wanted by the police in 14 criminal cases. He had escaped from Phulwari jail a few years ago and was also the key accused in the murder of the son of inspector R. N. Singh in Gardanibagh in 2001.
