Bihar Ministers to the Rescue of Woman on Train
Patna: April 16, 2007
It used to be the politicians from Bihar who were notorious about harassing females on the train that would have made their mothers ashamed. There are examples abound.
That was then. This is now!
State Information Minister Arjun Rai and Sports, Arts, and Culture Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, after being told about vulgar sexual advances being made by none other than a coach attendant on Rajdhani Express on late Sunday night, took the matter in their own hands and got the perpetrator arrested at Patna Junction.
As reported, the coach attendant Mohammed Chand, a Delhi resident, started to make lewd advances towards the wife of an army personnel on 2436 Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express while being in a state of drunkenness. When the husband of the victim Major U. Sharma tried to stop him, Chand got violent and hurled abuses at him.
It just so happened that Rai and Sigriwal boarded Rajdhani Express at Buxar after their train Mahananda Express got delayed at Mughalsarai due to some technical snag.
The army officer, seeing the ministers with armed security personnel, told them of their harrowing experience and Mohammed Chand's vulgar behavior towards his wife.
The ministers immediately contacted the Railway IG in Patna and arranged for Chand's arrest.
As soon as the train reached Patna, the Government Railway Police took Chand into its custody. A medical test conducted on Chand revealed him under the influence of alcohol.
