Protest Intensifies in Ankit Abduction Case
Patna: April 17, 2007
More than six days after the abduction of six year old Ankit from Patna City area, the police continues to shoot in the dark as dozens of protestors under the banner of Bihar Public School and Children Welfare Association (BPSCWA), on Monday, wore black badges as a mark of protest and the police's failure to recover the boy despite some early 'breakthrough'.
Talking to the media, the BPSCWA president D. K. Singh said the agitation would be intensified if Ankit is not safely recovered in next day or two.
"We will meet with the Governor R. S. Gavai on Wednesday to ask for his intervention as part of the second phase of the agitation," Singh said.
The BPSCWA has appealed to all schools in Patna to join their cause in the recovery of Ankit who was taken away, allegedly by the family servant Balram Paswan, last Thursday at the end of the school.
Raids were earlier conducted in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra and Paswan's uncle and father were taken into custody but since then the trails have gotten cold and the police remain in complete dark as to the whereabouts of Paswan and his ally Sanjay Rajak, the alleged kidnappers.
