Patna to Have Four SSPs to Fight Crime
Patna: April 19, 2007
The government's appointment committee on Thursday gave a go ahead signal to having four Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) for the state capital in an attempt to curb crime graph in the city that, despite some minor headways, continue to remain a major cause of concern for the Nitish government.
Under the new plan, Patna will have four SSPs, one each for east, west, and central zones and one for the monitoring of all trials against hardcore criminals, officials said.
Already Patna has three SPs including the SSSP, the SP (rural), and the SP (City).
"Patna police is besieged by nearly 400 cases of all kinds each month. To further aggravate the situation, they also have to provide security to a host of politicians who are never satisfied with their current security status," said a senior police official adding the appointments of four new SSPs in Patna would help ease the burden on the law enforcement officials.
