Rabri Livid over NDA's Criticism of Raghuvansh Singh
Patna: April 21, 2007
Coming to the defense of party leader and Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, on Saturday said criticism of the Nitish government by Singh were justified as the NDA government was running on hands out given by the central government.
"Without the mercy of Central leaders from Bihar, Nitish government was a complete failure and if Raghuvansh Singh made the same allegations, I don't see what's wrong with that," the leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly said.
Dismissing the demand of the NDA of sacking Singh over his recent remarks in which he is accused of using foul language; Rabri Devi said the UPA government was not dependent for survival on the NDA leaders in Bihar. "Just because they want Singh to step down, does not mean a thing," she said.
It may be recalled that in a recent statement, Singh said if anyone accused the UPA leaders of not doing anything for Bihar, he would pull out his tongue.
The statement withdrew widespread criticism from the NDA who, besides demanding his ouster from the ministry, said Singh's usage of foul language was akin to the language used by any two-bit criminal.
The former Chief Minister, who herself is no stranger to such language particularly while talking about Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of making only false promises and misleading the people of Bihar.
"Without Central aids, Nitish government would not survive a single day," said Rabri.
